Carterville’s Lady Lions, who finished second in the BDC race, advanced to the IHSA Class A State Tournament for the second year in a row and the second time in school history. Carterville nipped BDC rival ZRC 3-2 to win the regional tournament and then defeated SIRR powers Nashville and Pinckneyville to advance to the first-ever All-BDC Super-Sectional.   There the Lady Lions upended the Carmi/White County Lady Bulldogs 14-6.  At the State Tourney, the Lady Lions superb season came to an end with a 5-1 loss to eventual state champion Beecher in the quarter-final round.
